The first “wood floors” appeared in the Renaissance.Their lightweight design well suited to upper floors.

Among nobles appeared boards and panels in solid wood. This approach soils pleased to Kings for its originality and comfort (in the cabinets of Louis XVI, sophistication pushed to the inlay of precious materials). But long-term fragility of the soils did prefer oak floors.
